For Lucy Walters, studying Computer Science at UBC Okanagan, the pathway into the tech sector just got a bit easier, thanks to the $10,000 Women in Technology/Indigenous Women in Technology Scholarship she just received from the BC Scholarship Society.
The BC Scholarship Society will make over $1.25M available this year to support BC postsecondary students participating in study programs outside of Canada.

Kyla MacDonald is working toward a degree in Social Sciences at Capilano University, and the $3,000 Indigenous Student Award she recently received from the BC Scholarship Society will allow her the time she needs for study. As she explained, “This Award will help me start my first year with all of the tools I need to succeed and help me feel more financially secure.”
A record 27 students in B.C. have been awarded Premier’s International Scholarships of between $8,000 and $12,000 to study abroad in more than 14 countries from Scotland to Singapore.
Receiving a Women in Technology Scholarship was more than a $10,000 financial boost for Sarah Sedlock, who received it last year while studying Electronics and Computer Engineering at Camosun College: “it not only provided financial assistance, but also served as motivation and encouragement, and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to pursue my dreams.”
